Hymenoplasty Surgery In Pakistan

Hymenoplasty surgery is nowadays a commonly performed procedure in the young female population. Young unmarried who are involved in having sexual activity before marriage usually undergoes this hymenoplasty/hymen repair surgery before marriage. Females who got accidentally ruptured their hymen due to rape or trauma also are candidates for this surgery and females who were divorced due to their couple issue and do not want it to be disclosed to the next partner also undergo this hymenoplasty/hymen repair surgery.

Hymenoplasty Surgery is also known as “Reviginization

Females suffering from this problem of hymen rupture become very much worried because in our society it is considered to have bleeding on first night intercourse. Due to this stress, they undergo a hymenoplasty surgery procedure before marriage.

Assessment and Preparation

The client visits the clinic and Dr Abdul Malik with his team of assistants including the female assistant take the detailed history. In history, certain questions are paramount to an outcome that include:

  • For how long is being sex done
  • How frequently it was done
  • Whether single partner or multiple partners
  • When sexual intercourse was done last time
  • When the last menstrual cycle ended

These questions are for the reason that with much more sex, hymen get more widened and needs more stitching so recovery time is more. And secondly, during the menstrual cycle/periods, the mucosa is friable and if we do surgery at this time or just after it then stitches can break down so considering this timing of surgery is usually 7-10 days after ending periods.

After the history, an examination is done and with the finger is assessed that how wide is hymen and surrounding assessment including labia and vagina assessment is done. After the assessment, Dr Abdul Malik advises the patient about baseline blood tests including CBC, Pt/apt, hepatitis B & C.

Why Hymenoplasty Surgery is needed?

The hymen is an external opening outside of the vaginal orifice and it is the point where the penis enters into the vagina and repair of this is necessary as when a partner does sex and inserts the penis, he feels resistance and gets satisfied about virginity.

A sign of virginity is that only one little finger can be passed through that opening.

Dr Abdul Malik Mujahid usually performs hymenoplasty surgery/hymen repair surgery under local anaesthesia. The patient is placed on the operation table and the lithotomy position is made then the area is painted and draped to maintain a sterile environment. After that, local anaesthesia is injected. And 7-10 minutes after that incision is given, dissection is done and two layers inner and outer are separated on both sides. Then hemostasis is secured. The first inner layer is repaired/tightened with Vicryl 4/0. Then outer layer is tightened and only a small hole is left for bleeding periods. Then the area is cleaned and the dressing is done.

Postoperative Care and Recovery

After surgery, the patient is shifted to the recovery room and is kept in the recovery room for 1-2 hours then the patient is discharged on medications. The patient is advised to have complete bed rest for about 2-3 days. Then the patient is advised to walk at home and after 5-7 days can join back to her work.

She is advised to climb the stairs carefully so that stretch on stitches should not occur. She is advised to avoid running or gym or weight lifting for 2 months at least. Stitches usually take about 6-8 weeks to get absorbed so she is advised to have a hymenoplasty surgery procedure performed 2-3 months before marriage for proper healing.

Pain and swelling can occur for a few days that is usually settled in 4-7 days.

When to get hymenoplasty surgery done?

It is usually advised to have a hymenoplasty surgery procedure done 2-3 months at least before marriage because swelling, oedema and stitches absorption take about this time to settle down properly and proper healing take about 2-3 months time.
